Default few fuel pump questions....

First off I have a 98 Formula.

I'm doing a rear swap in the very near future and while I have the rear out I'm going to replace the fuel pump ( it's whined off and on for 2 seasons). I was looking for a complete plug and play kit and the only one I found was at Texas Speed. It's the racetronix kit. I noticed on the picture of the kit it said for "99 and up" f-bodies. What changed from 98-99? So do they also offer a pnp kit for the 98's? Also, is there a point I should look at doing an adjustable pressure regulator? Thanx in advance for any help you guys can give me.

Racetronix makes a 1998 system as well. Don't worry about an adjustable reg until you pass 550rwhp. Harris Speed Works, Thunder, Texas, etc, etc all on the right carry the Racetronix set-up.

1999 change was a bucket enclosed fuel pump and a plastic tank.

Would I be better off going with a PnP kit or just the pump? How much work is it to adapt just the pump over to my stock setup? Just wondering if I need the whole kit or can get away with just the pump. It's a 98 so the fuel system is no spring chicken is why I was originally looking at the kit.

Get the kit. It's true plug and play. I believe the wiring is upgraded too, so the pump gets more voltage to maintain better pressure than stock wiring. It runs direct to the battery.

It's a very high quality kit. The 98's were the first kits, rather than the last to be put to market by Racetronix, so the 98 kits have been out for awhile. No quality or bugs issues with it. I have one and installed it myself. It was easy, but took me awhile as I installed from the top thru a hole in the rear deck rather than dropping the tank.

I have an ATI D1SC putting out over 525 rwhp with 42lb injectors. The pump doesn't skip a beat and can easily handle 60 lbs injectors when I upgrade.

Thanks for the reply. I'll get the kit then. What do you mean by it runs direct to the battery? I was under the impression it wired straight to the stock harness?

The wiring kit runs all the way to the battery or alt (oversize to maintain the voltage).

Go the their site and read the tech article on their wiring harness (oversize) supplied with the kit.

Im in the process of installing this kit right now, and the quality is probably better than any other aftermarket part Ive purchased. Right down to the factory type locks and connectors and detailed instructions. I highy recommend the racetronix kit.

Post back up if you don't mind after the install and let me know how it went and any tips you have for me. I'd appreciate it. That's why these forums are so great. There's always someone out there that has experience with something you need to know about.
