Default Mixing Fuels

I have calculated my DCR to be around 8.8-8.9:1 and I know this is pushing it for 93 octane, can I mix some higher octane fuel in to bump up my octane rating and if so what % for a given amount will yield a higher octane rating i.e. for X amount of 93 what % of say 110 will bump me up to be safe octane rating?

I would not run race fuel and definitely not leaded. I would run a brand name 93 with a couple bottles of octane booster to bump up to 95-96. This just me, maybe someone can shed some different light.

i agree not to run leaded gas, it can ruin the o2 sensors on our cars...

tho the money you will spend on a couple bottles of octane booster is the same your gunna spend on race gas AND you still have to purchase the 93...

the track has unleaded sunoco 104 at about 6 bucks a gallon...$20 worth and your good to go

not to mention the exhaust smell you get from race gas

if you do decide to buy the booster make sure the can is sealed ...some people have returned the product with nothing in it but water

Back to your question, let's say that you mix 50/50 93 and 110 octane, you now have 101.5 octane. 75/25 gives you 97.25 octane, simple math, if I did it right.

Not sure the mix wil be linear. Look at Torco race gass addative. I talked to them at length and it is way better than Octane Bost.

Depending on how much octane you are trying to achieve, I'm not sure that doing it with octane booster Vs a leaded fuel mix is any better or worse for O2 sensors. If you only use a leaded fuel mix for race weekends only, your O2s will last a long time, the damage to O2s due to lead contamination is usually overstated. O'Reilly sells 12 Oz bottles of octane booster for around $3.00 ea, works well in my turbo Harley.

The torco addative will mix 1QT to 5 Gal of premium and net 105ish octane. 10:1 will net ~103 octane. It works out a lot cheaper than octane boost.

When octane booster tels you it's a 4 point gain you need to read the fine print. It is really 0.4 points or 93.4 with premium. It's a waste of $$ if you ask me.
