Default Disconnecting fuel line problem

I am pulling the heads off to replace a collapsed lifter. I have the quick disconnect tool from autozone. Tried 2 different metal ones and that didnt work now I have the plastic things that everyone says you need. I popped the 3/8 tool onto the fuel line , pushed it into the fitting to disconnect and the damn thing wont come off. Ive tried pushing turning the tool while pulling on the line. Ive tried everything. Why is this such a problem on my car. Is their something simple that I am missing?

Double check your using a 3/8 push it all the way in (man handle it) and pull the fuel lines...

It's not to terribly hard. Ive pulled mine twice.. hardest part was getting the tool on.

I have never had any luck with the metal ones. Once you get the 3/8th's one on the line push it all the way in to the right, hold it in and push the end that you are trying to pull off in towards the plastic ring. That will fully compress the spring and then you should be able to pull the line off.

Hi fastGBcamaro -

Like said above - push it in the connector hard and pull the fuel line - pull it harder than you are.

It'll pop off and quite a bit of fuel will gush out of the fuel-rail.

I though it took more effort than it should to pull the line off - but it did come off.

best regards -

Default got it

Thanks for all your help guys. I used several scissor type tools and none of those worked. I also used the plastic individual disconnect tools and those didnt seem to push the clips up far enough, so I bought the tool in th pic bellow and the fuel line popped right off. It took less that 5 seconds. Thanks again.

I tried several different tools on my fuel line. The only one that worked was the SnapOn (Blue Point) FIH 9055-2 Disconnect Tool
