Weight difference between 98-99 metal tank & 00-02 plastic tank???

Default Weight difference between 98-99 metal tank & 00-02 plastic tank???

Anyone know the weight difference between the two?

i think 98 were the only year with a metal tank and 99-02 had the plastic and i think its around 10- 15lbs but i could be off on the weight

Metal tank weighs 22lbs, weighed mine myself, I cant imagine the plastic tank being much lighter. Matter of fact the aluminum nasty tank was only like 5lbs lighter then the steel tank I removed.

I have been wondering the same thing myself. I am going to put a fuel cell in my car this winter and get rid of the metal one.

99+ are plastic. Few people have claimed to have metal tanks in 99s but since the evap setup is completely different I doubt GM had a few 'special' 98 PCMs done to control it. Every 99 I have ever seen had a plastic tank but never say never
