Where to mount pump controller?

Where to mount pump controller? I have an Aeromotive pup controller for an external pump. Where would be the best place to mount it? I've seen a picture with one mounted in the engine bay. It would almost seem like that would defeat the purpose, you might have voltage drop over the long distance. I would think that the closer to the pump the better. Maybe I am wrong. Any ideas?
