I think most people use a bulkhead fitting in the bottom of the tank. Run from the bulkhead fitting to the fuel pump.

No sorry those external pump have a hard time pulling fuel that far upwards. Most I have seen use a bulkhead fitting in the bottom of the tank but that has its own issues like cracking or starving from slosh. Best way is a sumped race tank.

Nate: you post all the time how all of these fuel pumps you sell would pull fuel from 20 feet above the tank with no problem, this kinda contradicts past posts you've made. Can you clarify the difference?

a a1000 isnt going to pull, you need to put a fitting on the bottom of the tank, you can buy a nasty tank thats already sumped, there the way to go if you have money, I myself dont have money, I just put a fitting on the bottom.

Pulling fuel up and out causes a few problems like heating the fuel and cavitation...The Mustang tank is also only about 6" deep where an F-Body you will need to pull over 2' till it comes out the top of the tank. Feed your pump as much fuel as possible.
