Default Easy question - schrader valve

Ok, this is a pretty dumb question, but I haven't been able to find the answer in a search. Probably because I'm the only person who doesn't know this.

The schrader valve, I know it's on the fuel rail. Everyone says to take it off when you're running a fuel pressure gauge or fuel solenoid off it.

There's the cap, then the little metal tab on the inside that releases the pressure. When you're supposed to remove the schrader valve as people say, do you remove just the cap, or the metal tab part as well? I'm assuming both, but I couldn't find any answers where someone specifically said to remove the metal tab.

Also, can it just come out with pliers? or do I need that special valve core removal tool?

Thanks.

i dunno if i recomend ripping it apart, that valve is there for a reason, and you wont really have a way to relieve pressure if you rip it off and put a gauge over it

You need to take the stem out. You can use one of those little tire valve stem removers. They're only a dollar or two at most part stores.

The valve screws out. You can use a special tool as mentioned above, or you can use a small screw driver. Actually, the flat blade on the end of a dremmel chuck works pretty good.

You dont have to go and buy the "special tool" all you need is a tiny flat head and then put it on one side of the shraeder valve and then start turning counter clock wise and the valve will start to unscrew and come out...

Taking shrader valve out for dummies edition..

1.) Unscrew the cap at the end of the drivers side fuel rail..

2.) Inside the rail after you unscrew the cap the shraeder valve will be inside of the rail at the end of it.

3.) Grab a very small flat head screw driver and if you look into the fuel rail at the schraeder valve their will be 2 flat sides on the valve. Put the small flat head on one of the flat sides of the valve and then start loosening and turning the screwdriver counter clockwise and just keep turning til the valve pops out now you have the open fuel rail

THE END
