Default so after a professional rear diff fluid change and a clean...

theres still knocking going on between 1000-2000 rpms 0-25 cruising in neighborhoods... it stops when i let of the gas, and gets louder and quicker when i step on it more. then stops when i really drive her. btw this happens only sometimes, but on a consistent basis for the past 2 years now. ive taken her to shops all across the country, nobody can figure it out. ive also posted numerous threads. recently however ive had this one local town midwest shop take the 10 or something bolts out to drain the stock rear fluid (my car is at 65k mi. BTW) and they cleaned in there while she was up in the air spinning the wheels as they were doing so. i noticed when we were spinning the tires that they were slipping i think like a clunk. just once though. but they filled the rear up with BG rear fluid with ls2 limited slip and an additive 75w90. they even tightened the wheels too. they spent a good time under there. after all that the car:
IDLES BETTER
GAS MILEAGE HAS IMPROVED
car feels tighter.
better throttle response

the knocking happens a lot less now though. but still happens. but the knock sounds quieter when it does happen.

i need your help

edit: btw the wheels are sound. no broke bearings and ****

You sure it's coming from the rear?

Usually when the rear starts going, sounds just don't come and go as they please. Consider when you get on it the sound is drowned out by the exhaust?

yes its from the rear. other mechanics have ridden with me and agree its the rear. no the type of pitch it hits does not get drowned by the exhausts.

the mechanics ive seen have finally said that the only thing left to do is to take the entire rear apart to find the problem!! wow

I personally cracked a few pinion gear teeth a few years ago and it barely showed on the pinion. You might have to dissassemble the rear and clean the gears to inspect. If your torque converter bolts come loose it sounds like a tin can rolling around under the car. Had mine come loose on a dyno tune.

Have a look at your driveshaft and the front U-joint
where it passes close to the exhaust Y- / I-pipe; in
the course of two exhaust swaps I had one time that
the I-pipe was hanging pretty close to the U-joint and
whenever the car squatted, brought the two into
interference. Also see if either U-joint has any play
or slop and that the pinion has no radial or thrust play.
