going to a salvage yard for a new rear
I'm tired of wasting money on my original 10 bolt and will be going to a U-pull-It sakvage yard. What vehicles should I look for to take a rear out of?? I will have it rebuilt no matter what, but I want to take one out that wont require a ton of mods to fit my 1999 T/A?? Please help!

Im pretty sure the only rear that wont require a ton of mods to put in is one out of a 93-02 f body v-6 or v8 car. There is 10 bolts in s10's but they dont have the torque arm mount like the f body im pretty sure you will need a rear from a 93-02 f body car. I got an f body 10 bolt out of a v-6 car 3.42 posi from a local u pull it yard for 30.00 so you may be lucky and find one. Only thing I found out that was wrong with it was the posi was kinda beat lol my buddy also got one and the posi unit was beat also (doing 1 leggers once in awhile) no noises though.

I'm sorry, I should have specified that I wanted to upgrade from my original 10 bolt to something stronger(9 in, dana, 12 bolt, etc..) are there any cars or trucks with one of those stronger rears in them that I should look for?

Older Ford trucks have a 9 inch in them, but the width and mounting points would need to be altered. One option would be to pull the center section from a 9 inch. My local u-pull-it yard charges $60 for it. EPP sells the bolt in Moser 9inch housing/axle package for $1000 shipped. Put the 2 together and you have a cheap much stronger rear. You won't have ABS anymore though.

I think its mainly older ford trucks like f 150's and broncos I believe pre 1986 and even some older ford cars have them like the bigger cars. But yea like stated above its probably only worth it to get a center section and just buy the moser housing and axle package from a sponser or wherever u choose.

You could get a 8.5 inch 10 bolt out of a fullsize chevy truck, and have it cut to fit. Theres no direct fit upgrade rearend.
I have a 1500 GMC and I am either going to upgrade my 10 bolt or have my dana 60 modified to fit.
Car Craft said I could fit my stock brakes on a dana 50 if I cut my center section of my backing plates.

But you still need to weld on a torque arm mount which is tricky on cast iron.

Its already been addressed a hundred times, there is no rearend that will fit without extensive modification. As already said, the best you could hope for is to find a nodular case in the junkyard and stuff it into a moser housing. Finding an N case is like finding a needle in a haystach nowadays though.
