Default girdle cover worth installing?

Well my 168k 10 bolt has finally died. I stuck mikronited 4.10's in there two years ago, seems the differential is what has died, its hard to make 90 degree turns now. It had a thunder racing cover on it. I'm sticking a completely stock 10 bolt in its place, I have no where the amount of funds I would need to upgrade to a better rear. Is it worth transferring the thunder racing cover onto the new used 10 bolt? I already have it, does it def. help things survive?

before you put a cover on make sure you install a ARP stud kit for the caps. The factory bolts are a weak link and need to be replaced with a stud kit. Very simple to do if you're doing it yourself. TA sent me the kit when I bought my cover.

I think it makes it a lil stronger. my m6 car seemed to last longer between gears sets with the cover on.

Thanks for the heads up on the stud kit FLSSLS1, I think I had done that when I put the 4.10s into the last rear, I'll have to see if I have the receipt here still from Thunder Racing when I ordered the parts. Hopefully I did and I won't have to order them.

Can't wait to go back to a stock rear though, the 4.10s were fun on a roll, but with street tires it never even attempted to not spin at the track, best 60' was 2.2, usually averaged around 2.4. I was getting tired of them whining back there, and seemed to affect the constant rpm cruising smoothness. Any time they were checked though they were still setup good.

If you bought it in a kit from us, chances are you have the stud kit. It is part of the kit we sell for $399. I can look up the order for you if need be. Just PM me your name and info.

Thanks
Shane
