Default Rear end cover

Before anyone flames me for "wasting" money in my 10 bolt, im going to buy a rear end cover soon, plus i want to take mine off and put new fluid in anyways, so i figured it would be a good time to do it. i have stock power, and only plan on adding headers and an ls6 intake and ill be done with power adders.

my sister wants to get me a gift for xmas and im going to say give me like 50 bucks, and ill pay the rest for it.

i see many different brands, is there going to be a difference? some are like 30 bucks cheaper than others.

i see texas speed has 2 of them, one is an AAM and one i think is a GM cover

I use a TA cover. Just make sure that it has the bearing cap support bolts and a drain plug. And be sure and replace the gasket when you are in there.

okay, well i may not be getting it now. my brother was reading on his car forums about them and said its not worth it. there is a gm tech that worked there for 20 years, said they do nothing and that it was a marketing ploy. so im going to be researching this much more before i drop the money on one.

I disagree the heavy covers help remove some of the flex from the center section. Just a guess but it would help gear and bearing life as a minimum. Give Moser tech a call, those guys are outstanding even if you dont buy from them.

I second the TA cover, its a nice piece. A cover is pointless if you don't do the ARPs main studs for the caps, it'll cost about 20$ more. You may be saving the pumpkin for flexing, but you can still rip off the teeth on your rear end gears. Also, I'm not impressed by some GM mechanic at a dealership saying that, because their by the book and prolly dont even own a sports car... wait do brettas count? NOTE: Not all dealership mechanics are dumb.

Get a TA cover with the stud kit. Or if you want to save a little cash, get the one from Summit. It's the same cover, but it has "Summit" stamped on it instead of "TA". This is a must if you plan on running the 10 bolt on a car with just even minor bolt ons. They do make your rear stronger, just ask the guys at Moser, and Strange.

You have a good point, 96tealTA. Would Moser and Strange sell them if they were just bling? IDK for sure, but I doubt it.

Me too.....

If nothing more, the cover has a drain plug, in case you like to change the gear oil on a regular basis.

TA Cover helps support the carrier caps from flexing under power. The aluminum helps discipate the heat and of course you have the drain plug. All good reasons to upgrade to the TA cover. We have them in stock as well. Check out our wbsite or give us a call.

not to mention you get a little more oil capacity from using those covers. I was gonna get one sut to the drain plugs. i have been loooking at them for years, but when you drive it 2500 miles a year it is really not that important.

I will only be doing LT and y for my power adders on my ws6. I will majorly modify my 01 truck when the lsx goes in and then hope for the best on that 4.10 geared 7.5.

i agree, i put about 3-6k a year on my car, but you never know. that little bit will always help, so im going to invest in it.
