Here is some information from this thread
https://ls1tech.com/forums/gears-axl...ere-first.html
"Stock Gear Ratios:
M6: 3.42<----This should be you.
A4 Standard: 2.73 (GU2 code on the door sticker)
A4 Performance Axel: 3.23 (GU5 code on the door sticker)
WS6 and SS models came with 3.23s.
Your A4 did not come with 3.42s.
If your sticker is gone you tell which gears you have by your highway rpms:
3.23s @ 2000 rpm = 67 mph; 2.73s @ 2000 rpm = 80 mph
3.15s were available in A4 Vettes"

Another way of doing it is to mark your tire and rotate it one full turn while counting how many times your driveshaft turns, i.e. 3 and 1/2 turns is 3.55, 4and 1/4 turns is 4.11 gears, etc.

This doesn't necessarily mean anything. you're car is an M6, as stated above that means no matter what it came from the factory with 3:42's. However if your not the first owner of the vehicle one of the previous owners could have changed the ring and pinion. I assume thats where DiabloFormula was going with his post.
If you are the original owner or know the gear ratio was never changed for a fact completely negate everything i just said.
Take care.
