Default changing fluid

Im planning on changing my rear end fluid this weekend ive got a new gasket and some gear oil and planning on getting some rtv or gasket stuff to help seal it back up.

Is there anything I need to look out for Im guessing its best to loosen the bolts but not take the top one out and pry the bottom of the cover open with a flat head. then let the oil drain before removing the entire cover and the clean up the cover and the gasket surface. then place the gasket on with the rtv to hold it there and put the cover back on and fill it up.

do I need to remove anything else to get the bottle up to the fill hole im guessing the pan hard bar but anything else.

As long as you jack it up and put it on jackstands the rear end will hang and everything will move out of the way.

got it done today wasn't to bad my rear was covered in gunk though so took some time and cleaned it up and painted the cover and my LCA brackets. its was pretty easy I took a small tube taped it to the bottle which gave me some more room putting the oil back in and man that takes some time getting thick oil down a small tube. well anyways heres a few pics I took thanks for the help.

When jacking under the axle, be careful that the jack cradle doesn't bend the edge of the cover.

I find I get the best results with the $11 OEM gasket from GM dealer.

yeah mine has been jacked up by the cover before you can see wome bends in the lip. I try to make sure its not hitting it but may have done a few and maybe the previous owner.

as far as wanting to get under the car its nice but also bad cause then while your there you see all the things you should or want to do like true duals and suspension stuff for me.
