Default Another Gear Thread

I'm trying to decide whether or not to swap out the gears in my 10 bolt.

Car is making over 400 RWHP on motor threw an A4 and I'll be throwing 100+ shot at it.
Running a junk yard 10 bolt right now with 3.23 gears, its holding together pretty good, been in the car about a year now, goes 11's no problem.

I'm thinking about going to something in the 3.90/4.11/4.30/4.56 range in my 10 bolt, but I'm afraid the new gears may add too much stress and cause it to fail.

Car doesn't see much street time, just to the track and back or a car show near home, spinning it to 7200+ with a 4K NLU stall.

What are your opinions?

if your happy run it till it blows goin up in gears is gonna put more strain on it. mabey 3:73's and you would prolly be safe. mabey save the money and start a 12 bolt or 9' fund lol?

I don't think anyone makes 3.90s for a 10 bolt. But if you're really spinning to 7k+..go with some 4.10s.
