how to remove the axles in a moser 9 inch?

Default how to remove the axles in a moser 9 inch?

I got a sweet deal on a complete moser 9 inch yesterday but I need to remove the axles to put my brakes on there. Im not sure how to remove the axles though. Could somebody PLEASE tell me how!

There should be 4 nuts/bolts on the end of each tube, take them off and pull the axles out.....but if you have to put your backing plates on you will need to also take the bearings, seals and those steel retainer rings off as well, in which case you will need to buy those reatiner rings becuase the only way to usaully get those off is to cut them off.

Is the sensor on top of my factory 10 bolt for the abs or is that the speed sensor? I rushed in to buying the 9 inch because the guy only wanted 1000 bucks so didnt have much time to research it. Anyways the 9 doesnt have a place to put the sensor so what do you guys suggest?

You will need a provision for the sensor, but the sensor will do you no good unless you have the reluctor ring on the differential.

Tell us exactly what rear you purchased?

all I know is it came out of an 88 camaro. Can the reluctor ring be added by myself or do I have to send the 3rd member off to have it done?

there are a few sponsors on here that sell 9"s with 3 wheel ABS. maybe they would be willing to modify yout 3rd member for ABS.

I don't think you can add it yourself. Some of them get pressed on and some are spot welded on.

I know my ring on mine is pressed on a piece that is then bolted to the diff, contact Eric at Midwest Chassis, he might be able to set you up if you decide to keep 3 Channel ABS.

Also on a side note, the 3rd gen f-bodies rears are 1.5" shorter per end then the 4th gens, anyone correct me if I'm wrong. If that's the case you have a narrowed rear bud.

I guess illl scrap the abs. Your right on the width looks like Ive got some 17x11 torque thrust wheels for sale.

I wouldn't risk it, especially if he is going to be using that Moser 9" how it is meant to be used! hah

yeah that would be a big spacer seems it would have a lot of leverage to snap some wheel studs! Plus that 2 inch fatter wheel lip would look sweet

What year is your car? If you do go with not using ABS, check out SJMManufacturing.com. Steve is a sponsor here and sells an ABS delete kit w/ Line lock.

When you remove the ABS, the stock brakes will go to 50/50 front/rear. With his kit, it comes with a proportioning valve that lets you adjust the brakes to whatever you want. Also save some weight up front.

What are the specs on it? gears, axle splines, etc?

Also, your stock driveshaft may be an inch too short. If you run the stock one and have a vibration problem, you'll need a longer driveshaft.

the rear was built completly by moser its 31 spline 3.73 and nodular iron case.My car is a 02 stripper with no tcs m6 and is a rearend breakin son of a b$#@. Im on my third 10 bolt
