Default 6 lug axels in f body rear end?

Ok I searched and couldn't find anything about this so I figured I'd ask here... My buddy has a 2000 silverado he is about to put a ls6 cam and sum headers on it and also wanted to put a set of 4.10 gears in it. I told him why not just spend the extra money and buy a used f body rear end with some 4.10s already in it. The reason for that is to get rid of the one tire fryer he has at the moment. So will the rear end fit right in and can he put his axels in the f body rear end so he can keep his 6 lug?

Thanks!

Not even close. and a very bad idea. Why do you think people are spending $2500 to put 12 bolts and 9 inch fords into these cars?
Because the stock rear breaks. Theres even a sponsor on here working on a project so a 8.6 , like in your buddies silverado, will bolt into an f body.

You're moving in reverse.

agreed. if he's worried about breaking something, why not just put a posi in a 3/4 ton rear from a 2500 HD?

Just upgrade the differential with a set of 4.10 gears, Eaton Positraction, and a set of stronger axle shafts. Your done. We carry all the parts and can take care of you. Let me know if we can help you out.

So just upgrade to a positraction, otherwise you have to buy new axles and your gonna end up spending the same if not more moneyto put the Fbody differential in and have a weaker differential.

Still not worth it. someone correct me if I am wrong but isn't the 10 bolt in the truck a larger diameter ring gear. Put a posi unit and gears in the truck rear and be done with it

Yes it is an 8.6 compared to a 7.6 in the Camaro/WS6.

Don't those trucks have leaf springs??? Are the rear ends the same width? It would be a HUGE project, and in the end you'd still have less of a rear end than the truck came with.
