rear end swap
im looking to swap the rear end out of my 96 firebird and find a rear end out of a trans am or z28. the rear end i have now is starting to go, and i figured this would be a good time to upgrade. i have drum brakes on my firebird right now, and i've read that going to disk brakes shouldnt be a problem. now ive read about 2 and 3 series carriers, and im not sure what is it my car. and i know mine isnt a posi rear end either. so i guess what im asking is, what rear end will fit my car? where can i find one? and how much installation would be? thanks

Well, look up the rpo codes on your door to find what carrier you have. a 2 series is normally 2.73s and a 3 would be 3.23 or 3.42. I wouldnt waste the time with another shitty 10 bolt, for the money you spend, it wouldnt justify the very small difference in strength. Save for a 12 bolt at the least. Im not even gonna do that, im saving for a 9" so i can just do it once and forget about it. Im tellin ya man, it wouldnt take long for the newer 10 bolt to start crappin out on you, especially if you ever plan on making any sort of reasonable power, that 10 bolt, no mattter what car it came from, will in the end do the same thing, **** all over the ground.

well i think i'll be fine with the 10 bolt, as its just a v6, and im not going to make anywhere near the amount of power v8's are capable of putting out. but i do appreciate the suggestion.
