Can I reuse gear bolts?
Swapping rear gears and bought the install kit. Well the quality control dude must have been sick that day because one of the bolts from the install kit is all jacked up. Am I fine to just reuse the original gear bolts? Just want to make sure they weren't like head bolts that are one time use only.

So 2 for getting new bolts and 1 for using old bolts.
Only 1 of the 10 new bolts are bad, but the are a different head size than the factory bolts. I'd like them all to be the same size/weight, otherwise I would just use 1 old bolt and 9 new ones.

FWIW every real DANA ring and pinion I've put in came with bolts.
I've run stuff in the 11's on old bolts, I've run 4x4's with 48" tires on old bolts and broke axles, not bolts.
I guess this doesn't help your decision.
Look at it this way, you're questioning it right now. I guess you don't feel comfortable with reusing one. Just stop, order a new set, and put new ones in. You can't go wrong with new ones. You can think about an old set failing at the worst moment, you'll never forget the old ones, or one thats in there.

For me, it would depend on how the car was used - if you beat the snot out of it every chance you get without fail, I'd probably opt for a new bolt (or 10 or 12)...if it is more of a daily driver, I'd possilby think about reusing them.
Personally, I usually spend extra and buy new fasteners if I ever have any question about whether or not it can be reused - it probably isn't absolutely necessary though.
