Just broke the posi unit in my 10 bolt, but the gears are fine. Can I just put a spool in it for now, until I purchase a fab 9" from Midwest Chassis? Where can I get a cheap spool at? Thanks!

I would call a gear shop, as i'm not sure what splines the 99's have nore have a used a spool in a street car, lol. I just know you can. I will going with a Detroit locker, personally. Buts thats way out of line for a 10 bolt considering how much $$ they are.

mini-spool will definetly get the job done. you have to be carefull of what you buy because the spools wont necessarily fit any diff unit. If you are just looking to get by for a while until the new rearend is in your hands, i would just have someone weld the side gears to the carrier and call it a day. ever heard of a "lincoln locker"? not like you are gonna hurt the posi anymore...

How would I know what spool to buy for the unit I have? How long will the a.k.a Lincoln locker last? Thanks!

you have 28 spline axles. probably a torsen diff way to difficult to weld successfully. so you'll need an open carrier to use a mini spool. or do as suggested and weld up an open carrier. either way you need a 28 spline 88 and up 3:23 open carrier. call your junkyard ask for a carrier out of a 90 s10. they sell them for like 49.00 here and you get a set of gears usally 3:73s.
