gear swap in C6?

gear swap in C6? I know i can order just a complete senter section, but can i not just have my rear end guy swap a gear in my diff, and mybe the harden shafts too? if so whats the parts cost for that.?
i remember 400 bucks was for parts and laybor to do it to my F-body.
