2.73-3.42
my car has a stock 10 bolt with 2.73's in it and is a daily driver. i want to get some better track times. if i put in a 3.42 rear with drag radials just for the track will this mess with anything computer wise?
i can easily switch between rears just for the track cause i need the car to dd, just wanna know if runnin it with higher gears w/o re-calibrating the speedo will make the car run bad? thanks.

I went from 2.73 to 4.11, and never had a problem with shift points or bouncing off the rev limiter. I also went from 4.11 to 3.42 and no problems eather. And i have not had the computer tuned.
It will be fine to change the gear, the spedo will just be off a little...

Going from a 2.73 rear end to a 3.23 rear end I was hitting the rev limiter, so its all in the tune. With regards to the rear end swap. I guarantee you will be rethinking that swapping rear ends back and forth. That is a lot of work, I've done it a couple of times and really don't care to do it again.

Not going to be doing that again any time soon. My back still hurts.

HE SPEAKS THE TRUTH. I just finished swapping in a 3.42 rear for my 2.73. VERY happy with the results. BUT...I don't know if my unibody has flexed or what, but it was a BITCH to get the rear suspension reinstalled.

None yet. I plan on it though, the GPS is my speedometer for now. I would definitely like to have the shift points redone, at least so it'll hold 1st for a bit longer. Don't know much about these things. As soon as I find a good tuner somewhere pretty close to Central VA, its off to the races.
You'll be happy with the results though. 2.73's blow.
