Default 3.42 gears for 2 series carrier?

I know that I can get 3 series gears, but I really want the little bit of added strength using the 2 series gears Does anyone know where I can get some 3.42 gears for a 2 series (2.73) original geared car?

I went from 2:73 to 3:73. I used the motive thick gear. Otherwise you have to change the carrier. If I knew then what I know now,I would have changed the carrier and went with GM 3:73's..You will get some wine..

well I finally got the search function to work and found a few places that sell motive 3.42s in the 2 series carrier. Do they wine that bad really. I just don't know if I'm going to go that route yet. I mean by the time I buy the gears and the install kit, I'm looking at 300 bucks. That could go toward some longtubes. I just want the best bang for my buck I guess. I am poor. lol.

I am running the Strange 3.42 thick gears in my series 2 carrier. If they are properly set up, they should not whine that much at all. There is one other brand, but the name escapes me.
Why is it going to cost $300, are you having them installed also?

No , I was planning on installing them myself, but cannot find where to buy the gears themselves for under 200 bucks, then a master install kit is like 100 bucks. Any info on where to find the gears and install kit at a good price would be much appreciated.

Try nationaldrivetrain.com. They sell the Motive gears for ~155 and a mini install kit for ~40. Should get you close to 200 with shipping.
You are correct, the master install kit is around 100.

Thanks for your help. I checked out national drivetrain, but they only had listed a set of stock performance 3.42s that were for the 3 series carrier on the website. The 3.42s for the 2 series (thick gears) are 189 and it'll be about 38 bucks for the mini install kit, which should be sufficiant. that comes out to 227, and since I have to order them by phone , there will be a shipping charge more than likely, so I'd guess 235-250. Not as bad as I had thought, but too bad I can't get them cheaper somewhere else. I am a cheap person after all. haha. Thanks very much for your help though.
