Default Spool on a the street question? How bad is it ? OR Eaton Detroit TrueTrac

Ok i have a 06 GTO 800 rwhp and MT ET 275 tires.
Thinking of running a spool to lock the rear tires. Right now i keep over powering the posi . The car pulls left and right when trying to floor it going straight. Feel like one wheel getting power then other wheel then both.

How bad is it driving a spool on the street ?
Should just wear tires faster right ?

If the car is an auto you should be able to use a true trac. but if its a stick at that power level I think the only two options are a spool or a locker. IMO.

Truetrac is usually good for up to about 700hp before you stat seeing problems IFFFF you race the car. Spool on an IRS car is not a good option in my opinion.

I just took my spool out this weekend and put a trutrac. I hated the spool sounded like my hole drivetrain was falling off. spool is only good to go straigh. On drags and yea they waste twice as fast. Best thing for you is a locker

Tru Trac, and other Lockers suck, they take alot of things good such as the ability to hold power and then for the other 99% of street use it breaks your ***** to a fine and bloody pulp.

Backing up, and slow, tight turning is the worst. I just hope this thing will die and do one leggers.....

spools bind on sharp turns, have to use more throttle to move the car, and the rear tires scrub the ground obviously more the tighter you turn

other than that its totally fine and certainly gets the job done at the track.

i have no idea the impact one would have on an IRS tho

There may be stiffer springs you can run on that posi to help this out, But really I don't think any posi was designed to hold that POWA

You guys driving em around all over (I will be joining this club very shortly), what tires are you running, and what kinda mileage are you getting out of em? I know they wear faster, obviously, but just how fast are they killing your tires?

Friend is running a welded diff in his 240 and the thing is so annoying during driving and hanldes like a tank. Even when changing lanes it feels like the rear doesn't want to move over. He has an IRS also.

independent rear suspension.spools are ok for hwy driving and dirt roads, nice at the strip.they feel better with a tall slick then with a short DR.

I hate my spool on the street I have to feather and slip the clutch MUCH more than I used to and the tires wear out SUPER quick. I'll be taking it out ASAP. I'm buying the Moser Wavetrac.
