4.10s VS 3.73 and gear whine. strange problem I don't understand something. I have set of many gears with no problems. I just installed another set of 3.73s in a friends firebird today and they are dead quiet as well as all the other 3.73s I have installed. Here is what I don't understand, I run 4.10s in my car and have put two different sets in it and no matter what I do I can't get all the noise out of them but yet every 3.73 I have done made no sound at all. Is it just common for the 4.10 to make noise? I mean I have done many gears from 2.73 up to 3.73 and have always got them quiet but these damn 4.10s are a bitch! I can't imagine of all the years I have been doing this and all the quiet gears I have done that I'm doing something wrong with the 4.10s. I'm about to say hell with these 4.10s and just go with 3.73s in my car.

Hey man I'm good, been working on an LT1 Z28 I bought. Gave $1000 bucks for it with a new engine, the car just needed put togethor, haha. As for the gears I'm just sick of the damn noise. I know I'm doing them right since every other gear set I have put in has been quiet. Ford GM they have all been great other than these damn 4.10s. I'm gunna drive my friends car I done today and see how I like the 3.73s. I'm not sure if I will like it or not. I was even thinking of maybe a 3.90.
