? about rearend noise
Ok, I don't have any whining noises i hear about when rearends are about to go. But it looks like i have a small leak out of the pinion seal. The main problem though, is this "clunking" noise I keep hearing when I shift, or disengage the clutch sorta fast. Could this be the U-joint on my driveshaft? if so, how could i verify that without replacing it first?
Thanks alot,
Michael

Could be to much backlash, wearing out (leak). Do you have an aftermarket TA? if so check your bolts for tightness on the rearend housing.
U-joint is possible but not likely, sounds more like a rearend issue.

na its the stock torque arm, if it is in fact a problem with the rear, how much would a rebuild cost? or should i try to find a used 12 bolt or something instead? (really slack on cash right now.)

Kit would probably cost you around $100, check with the sponsors they usually have decent pricing.... Call Eric@ Midwest Chassis, Bob @EPP, etc.
Unless your really going to start throwing performance parts at it... then you should consider an upgrade to 12 bolt or 9 inch. Otherwise redo your 10 bolt for now. Good luck with it.

After wasting money on a 10bolt rebuild and gear swap, I wouldn't advise anyone else to waste money on them.. If you are going to stay stock, then sure, it might be something that you want to consider, however, for a little more than the price of a rebuild kit you can probably find a quiet and used 10bolt that someone who has upgraded to a 12 or 9" has for sale..
I had my 10bolt whining when I had my V6 3800 in it.. Swapped to an LS1 and rebuilt it with a gear change and it whined after the rebuilt until I dropped it...
