Default Slip Yoke Issue

Slip yoke supposed to slide all the way into the transmission output?

I had a driveshaft built according to measurement for my 400 trans. When the rear universal joint is bolted to the pinion flange, the slip yoke could actually slide in another 2 inches into the trans. The builder tells me this is normal. Could someone help me out here.

3/4" is a ton on our cars, ive seen people have 1/4" and not bust anything.

thats more for cars with leaf rear ends / bad geometry

i would get a longer shaft sorry

That sounds too short, but I guess it also matters how long the splines on the slip yoke are.

Is there a lot of slop if you grab the shaft at the front and wiggle it?

slip yoke is 4" total. engagement into trans is 2.75". this leaves 1.25" of "play" on the slip yoke.

not any slop if you wiggle.
