Exclamation differential fluid all over underbody and carrier!

i went to change tires today after driving the car for about a hour strait but really was being driving hard for about 4 hours.. because of a tune!
i found that carrier had gear fluid and also the body of the car around the front of the rear end were the drive shaft connects but there was no fluid anywhere on the drive shaft diff cover or the piece(yoke i think that's what its called)
and i have not found any on the floor of my garage

so i saw the same thing happen a few weeks ago so i changed the fluid and cleaned up the mess but now its back.

could the problem be that i messed up the seal from lifting the car from the rear end all the time? almost monthly.

or maybe i added too much fluid? is there a overflow valve or something?

rear end has 48k and they are 273s
thanks

Sounds like your pinion seals leaking, its pretty common with our cars. I believe the seals around $25 from the dealer.

Bought one today from the local Chevy dealer...$10.00. There are 2 different pinion seals, make sure you get the right one. Some have a single lip and like mine a three lip ( some call it a two piece)....ask me how i know... i'm still cleaning differential fluid all over the bottom of my car after my 3:73 gear installation

He is safe, pinion seals started changing in mid 01. He is a 98 so he has the earlier design. O, btw your pinion seal needs to be replaced
