Question How to break a 10 bolt

How much power does it take to break a 10 bolt with 4.10 gears?
My car right now is putting down around 400rwhp and 400rwtq.It also has a stage three clutch.

your 10 bolt has a bullz-eye on its chest .

it takes alot less hp then you think and your pushing out 400rwhp which is MORE then enough to break it with a few 6k clutch dumps and a good hook up. you have a spec 3 clutch which will no doubt hold, what do you think is gonna take the brunt force of all that power

I broke my 10 bolt on my auto 91 GTA. The car only had a few bolt on and a shift kit. I was happy the car hooked but it came at a price. A broken tooth on the pinion gear.

The 7.5 4.10 pinion is too small.

It ends up being tiny 9 tooth gear, it is doomed to fail.

Put some drag radials or some E/T streets on & watch it go boom.

I watched an almost brand new 01 Z28 with pretty much nothing other than a cut out and some REALLY sticky tires blow his rear end out as soon as he side stepped the clutch at the start line.

You really dont have to worry about much as long as you DONT hook up. when you hook is when the bad things start happening. I drove around for about 4K miles on a 10 bolt supporting 420rwhp and 400rwtq and it was fine. But I never had it at the track and couldnt get traction to save my life on the street. It has since been swapped out for a Moser 9inch.

Thanks.......Looks like I better shop for a 12 bolt. I was thinking 9 inch but I would like to stick with gm. Yea that 4.10 gear on the street does'nt hook for nothing even with nitto's.
