Default T/A rear whine!

I bought an abused '95 T/A a few months back and I'm fixing all the problems with it so I can enjoy the car reliably after I'm done. I'm driving the car occasionally to run it and keep the battery charged and such. So, I have a few questions: 1) The rear is whining like the ring/pinion isn't set up right. Is there a way to set it up correctly now to eliminate the whine or is it likely already damaged to the extent of needing new gears and rebuild? I ask because I don't really want to have to pay someone to do a complete rearend rebuild if I don't have to. I am mechanically inclined enough to get a few precision tools and do so if need be to avoid paying for labor. 2) Is there somewhere I can find comprehensive/detailed instructions to do so? 3) What are the parts needed to JUST replace/ setup the ring and pinion? Thanks for reading guys!

If it whines all the time you may need some gears, if it whines only on accel or decel only then you could prolly use the gears you have. Some excellent write-ups: I would buy a master/deluxe install kit and replace everything I could.
