hey jim the axle "c" clip retainer/lock is readily available thru GM just go to a local GM dealer and order part # 00344171! the thrust block and bolt on the other hand you cant get thru GM with out getting the whole carrier assembly so you are going to have to find someone willing to part out a rear end or a junk yard unless a after market company sells one in a kit or something but chances of that slim to none, that i've seen anyway! hopefully that helps some, sorry for the somewhat bad news!

Default Needed Torsen Thrust block / paddle

Hello,
I broke 4 teeth on the 4.10 ring gear (7.5) and apparently the pieces hit the thrust block / paddle and cracked it where the bolt goes through.

This is ccvair's post so after he gets his parts if anyone else has a spare Torsen thrust block / paddle please PM me.
Thank you.

Default ccvair did you get your paddle & bolt?

ccvair,

Did you get your paddle & bolt already as the person in the prior post says they have one? If you have yours please let me know it is OK to PM the person from the prior post. I don't want to hijack your thread and would like to ensure you get your parts.
Thank you

Default ccvair got his paddle

Hello,
I received a PM from the originator of this thread (ccvair) that he received his Torsen paddle & bolt.

I have received a few PM's about getting one, but I have not been able to finalize a deal yet. Hopefully I will be able to install the parts soon with my new 3.73 GM OEM gears with a TA cover.

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but it seems like some guys on this thread may have a parted out Zexel Torsen case.

Does anyone have the part circled in red? It is removable if you take those 4 bolts out (18mm, if I remember correctly).

3 series.

Default torsen

Mine just did the same thing, I installed 4.10's 5k miles ago but since then I daily drive to my new job 80mi a day and its killing my suspension/rear. I really need a 3 series torsen, or auburn or anything LSD 3 series, my gears are good. Just need the torsen T2 unit, paddle/bolt are good also, I can paypal $100 ASAP for a torsen or auburn 3 series in good shape.

They never manufactured that part for separate purchase to my knowledge. You would have to buy a complete unit or at least a broken unit with that piece still intact. Luckily, I have an extra complete torsen, 2 extra bolts, and one extra paddle. And I ain't parting with none of it

Yea I dont blame ya, I never had a LSD hook up so quick and positive to both rears in any of the older hot rods i've had, my 79 Z28 with factory 3.73 4spd was the same but it never broke and I had that from when I was 18-21yrs old AKA it was beat on and got down to 13.60's at the ole track. I really want to do the 8.8 xplorer conversion, I have fabbed/welded my whole adult life and my own SFC's,LCAs,TRQ arm also thats not saying much but I can get a late 90's xplorer 8.8 for $50 at local salvage yard, but all I read is what people do, or what gears, axles they have, I never can find a writup like saying "buy complete 8.8 with axles, disk, abs, cut down to ? inches, respline stock 28's to 31? My main ? is how to know where the F body hardware for suspension, brakes needs welded? Just jack the 8.8 up and keep my trq arm mounted up front and mark where it needs mounted, then hold the LCA's,sway bar etc up to oem frame mounted spots and see where they need to be welded? Im lost nobody does the work completely on their own I bet, Id like to talk to someone that has.

There was a thread somewhere here that explained cutting the stock ford housings down. The biggest problem is (as you should know) you cant just hack away at stuff. It all has to be square and true, and careful attention has to be paid because it has rotating parts inside. If you were to invest the time to make a jig, and go through all the steps necessary, you could see how it would be an extremely time consuming venture. I think thats why most steer away from it. I'm a certified welder and I personally wouldn't fool with the headache.

Default fabbing

Yea I ended up finding an f body rear complete with only 1500mi on it, I only needed the LSD but the guy didnt want to mess with it so he sold me the whole rear for what I was offering for the LSD. I am not "certified" but I have a couple certs in welding/fabrication through TTX and Union Pacific from when I repaired railcars, currently I am working at a good sized welding/fab shop building semi trailers for scrap hauling from scratch. Around here the only certified welding available is a 1 year deal from a tech school and the companies take experience over the certificates always, kinda sucks. I had a known monster truck rear end guy in my area show me how to build a jig to weld the 10 bolt tubes and it came out great and the rear ended up having an auburn HP series LSD with new motive 4.10's that werent set right and thats why the kid I bought them from thought they were bad gears cause it whined bad. I now have 3.42's back in and 2 sets of 4.10's im trying to sell on c-list but nobody has called. I am wanting to build a 1999 xplorer 8.8 but would like to see one built first.
