Default Gear upgrade

So i bought 3.42 gears to upgrade from 2.73. What else do i need for the install? Do i need anything special since i am going from 2 to 3? How about the speedo? I am not installing it because i do not have to tools, knowhow, or space, so would the installer recalibrate the speedo? Thanks

You'll need a series 3 carrier. 2.73 is gonna be series 2.

The installer will need to retune the PCM for the gear change so the speedo reads correctly.

thats correct. I believe someone makes a ring gear spacer that would make it work without buying a new posi unit.

been reading some of the threads and some people say the spacer is no good and is a last resort. Any truth to that, and does it matter that the car is not for racing?

I would check to make sure the Pinion won't hit the Carrier when it's installed.
