Default Truetrac > Eaton posi?

So I've always thought that the Detroit locker Truetrac was about the best all around diff... its not a true locker, but better than a regular limited slip right? So is it better than an Eaton posi unit? Reason I ask is I found a Truetrac that should fit my stock rear and its cheaper than the Eaton...

And would this fit my stock 10 bolt? Lookin at the numbers, it looks like it should, right?
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DTL-912A317/

And if Truetrac is better and it does work with my stock 10 bolt, then how come I never hear anyone using it in their 10 bolts? I only hear about it in 12 bolt and 9" rears...

Thanks

I sell them through my website at the above link. It is a good solid unit, but it doesn't mean you're not going to break something else. I've seen people put a lot of money into their 10 bolt rears, only to still end up with a pile of scrap. Everything about this rear is too small for the horsepower these cars produce. Bob

There are a lot of guys on stockers with way more HP... Mine is stock and I don't plan on makin crazy power, plus its going to be mainly a road racer... but anyway, the truetrac does work then right? And do you think its better than the Eaton?
Oh and I just can't justify spending $2500+ on a new rear...

My Tru Trac is working great so far..for the street it's great. I'm not using it for the Track though..I'm building an extra center that is spooled.

Default Truetrac > Eaton posi?

I agree with Exotic Performance Plus 110% , i broke my 10 bolt and it had the best of parts..Eaton Diff.......See sig for mods........not much more than cam, intake, stall and tune....From what i hear once you start making around 400 RWHP the 10 bolt is done

Anyone using a truetrac in their 10 bolt though? And I'm not going to be puttin down more than 400rwhp... I'll be pushin it to get close to 400rwhp... I live in cali and don't want to do anything that would make it not smog legal... so I'll probably be puttin down around 350rwhp...

^^Nice 60ft's.

I had an Auburn Pro behind my 402 LQ4 Stroker, I got about a dozen 1.56-1.58 60ft times out of it before it grenaded..the Spider Gears shattered.

This was when I was an Auto, 3600 Stall, 3.73's.

So that means that if I'm planning a cam swap and running nitrous, it would be best to just wait for a 9" or 12 bolt?

Correct! I'd go for a nine inch. https://www.brutespeed.com/rear_end_information.htm I have info at the link here as to why I prefer the nine inch over the 12 bolt. Bob
