how do i tell what series i have?

Default how do i tell what series i have?

i have a 98 camaro ss and i want to get a new set of gears.. how can i tell what series i have?? i see alot of 3 series gears? and what size rear end do i have? i was told lt1s have a 7.5 and ls1s have 8.5... thanks!

All 3rd and 4th gens have a 7.5. Yours being an SS is a 3 series.

what is the difference between a 2 and 3 series carrier?

The difference is in the thickness of the gear. 3 series is shallow, 2 series is deep.
