2.73 rear to 3.23 rear questions (whole rear swap)
I recently got a 3 series 3.23 rear (complete rear, axle to axle) and I was wondering what problems i would run into with a straight rear swap. I keep reading on here about 3 to 4 series swaps but no info on 2 to 3 series. my car does not have TCS, but it does have abs. the rear i bought has a reluctor ring around each axle, would this be a problem for me to bolt on my backing plates? any info would be much appreciated.

when speaking of complete units, a 2 series and 3 series can be swapped with no issues. The series refers to gears and posi only, so as long as the gears and posi stay together it could be swapped into any 10 bolt, it doesnt matter what the car originally came with. The channel refers to abs or abs/tcs. Those differences are where and how many reluctor wheels the rear end has and whether it has an ABS only hole drilled into the top of the housing (3 channel), or wiring and holes X2 at each axle end (4 channel). Yes its easier to swap a complete rear, but retaining the factory functions of abs and/or tcs can be tricky. This info is contained in the stickies at the top of the section.
