Default 98 v6 camaro 10 bolt on a 2002 z28 camaro??????

The rearend on my 2002 z28 has seen it's last days. I'm getting a 12 bolt in a few months but wanted to know if the 10 bolt I have on my 98 v6 camaro would fit without modification on the z28? Has anyone tried it???

It would work but check if it's the same gear ratio and has the limited differential.

my v6 has a eaton posi unit with 3.73's. i blew the motor in the v6 about 2 years ago and its been sitting ever since. so it'll be a direct replacement!! Never would have thought that.

question i have a 97 v6 camaro, can i switch out the hole rearend for something newer? with a 3.73 gearing, limited slip diff and disc brakes? thought it would be easier and cheaper to get a ss rear end from a bone yard than upgrading my rear end with parts.

jasafe, the OP can still use the Z28 swaybar on the V6 rearend, just swap over the hardware like the bushings and such and it'll be all set!

Doubt it is running TCS on the V6, not many had the 2nd gear start setups.

All 10 bolts are interchangable. But it depends on the braking system on the change to car for an efficient change over. For instance, a 1995 v6 10 bolt will have a ratio of 3.23-1 with an open differential and drum brakes. The ASB set up is different than say a 2000 Trans Am with disc brakes, but the housing, axles, gearing etc., is interchangable with all 4th gen F body cars.
The disc brake cars have different Ebrake harware too, which can be changed over from the original axle.

Finally got around to swapping the rears. Everything seemed to bolt up fine. I have a few more bolts to turn in the morning. Does the Eaton posi unit need the gm limited slip additive?? I'll update tomorrow when I done.

everything seems fine. Just need to bleed the brakes. Also the Eaton I have is a limited slip differential.
