you have a 2 seires carrier and you can do 1 of three things.
1. you can buy thick gears for the 2 series carrier, i think strange sells them.
2. you can buy gears for a 3 series which are thinner, plus buy a ring gear spacer. it's cheaper to buy the thick gears by the way.
3. you can buy a new 3 seires carrier from any number of sponsers and the 3 seires gears for that carrier.

any of these will work.

Was your z ever swapped from an auto? Any m6 factory car should have GU6 on the door and thus have 3.42's in the back. Btw 4.10 is prolly a better gear for a manual because of the steep overdrive. 3.73 people usually use in autos.

like redbird said, 4.10's are a better gear for the m6. Jaw gear's sells series 2 gears and their a sponser on here.

I think that the 3.73's are plenty and it will keep you from revving high in 6th. I have them and you will be turning 2k @ 80mph.

This man speaks the truth, and many places make the appropriate gears.

Yes a M6 should have come with 3.42s and a 3 series carrier, not sure why it doesn't have this but 2.73s cannot be installed on a 3 series. The whole reason for the difference in carriers is to make up for the difference in pinion size. A 2.73 pinion is huge so a 2 series carrier moves the ring gear away from the pinion center line, and a 3 series moves it closer. It's really pretty simple, for example a 4.56 pinion (biggest ratio that fits in a 10 bolt) is tiny and why it's prone to breaking. Some other bits of info to consider with such a small rear-end, not only does increasing the ratio multiply torque to the rear wheels, it makes the pinion smaller and weaker. I've seen quite a few broken pinions and all were from putting in bigger gears.

Personally I'd never go bigger then 3.73s in a 10-bolt, especially if you're making any power what so ever. These are also most of the reasons everybody upgrades from this worthless rear end in the first place.

oh i understand. ive built way to many of these little junk basterd. i just didnt know if by chance someone made a 2.73 for a 3series carrier. the ring gear would have to be awful thin but i think it could be possible, tho very highly unlikely
