Default Another "what gear" thread

Right now, I run all motor with 3.73 gears and 26" tall tires...

Car is a cam only Ls1 Z28, right now has a 3500 stall, and now I'm going to go to a 150 shot of nitrous...

Its my understanding that I will need to move to a 26" tall tire??

Thanks..

I would think a 28 inch tire or back to a 3.23 gear

Keep the 3.73's and go to a 28" tire? Or go higher on the gearing?

Your choice....I would calculate what you think you are gonna trap, and rpm with the tires vs. the gears and see what works out best (using a gear calculator). Tires can be swapped out easy, gears cant. I would factor car usage and what you are willing to tolerate when not at the track. I personally do the "drive there, race, drive home" thing. My track set-up is what I can and do run everyday. If you are comfortable running 28s all the time, and they will give you enough for the track I say go that route. Me personally I like the "stock" look when it comes to wheels and tires.
