Question symptoms and end results of pinion angle being out

Hi all!

If my pinion angle was out;
1. Would i have vibrations in any gear, but always the same RPM range? (lets say 1800 to 2500 for example)
2. What would putting about 2 to 3 thousand miles on a "out of whack" pinion angle cause,, any damage to other stuff? Im going to replace the U joint but wanted to know if i should be checking anything else out

Chasing Vibs and to be honest once i put my new rear in, i did not check pinion angle due to stock height, etc (im using a non adj BMR TA),, but as i learned with having my thrust angle out (was using UMI non adj LCA's, and had to buy adj ones to fix that issue), im afraid that my pinion angle is what is causing my vibrations,, getting a angle finder today to verify this week at some point (when i can get it on a lift)

Thanx all

Wayne

If the pinon angle is off, the vibrations will be MPH sensitive, not RPM.

You will feel them come on and have a wammmmm, wammmmm, wammmm sound. Sometimes the faster you go, they get higher in frequency and others times they dont. Just depends on how bad it is off. It normally happens between 60-70 MPH depending on rear gear ratio.

If the vibes are bad enough, you could wear out the pinion bearings, u-joints and tranny tailshaft bushing.
