Default 10 bolt seals

Ive got an extra 10 bolt laying around, i was told it "leaks". I believe its from one of the sides, because he mentioned getting the crap on his wheels. I know little about rearends other then swaping them out, studs and gears. But id like to get this one ready to go for when mine blows up.

What seals should i replace? And are there any write-ups available?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You said side seals, so I'm going to assume you mean the axle seals. You can get Timken seals from Autozone. Then pull the axles out, use a seal puller to pull out the old ones, and tap on the new ones.

Yeah, you will need to remove the diff cover, find the small bolt that holds the block in or pin in (depending on posi) remover the bolt, remove the block or pin, and you will see the axles with c-clips inside the carrier. push the axles into the haousing and with a small long magnet tool, or pliers get the c-clip and remove the axle. then you will see th seal and be able to remove it with a simple screwdriver, be careful when installing it not to bend it or beat on it after it seats, also inspect the bearins for play with the axles in the housing and chech the axle itself for damage where the bearing ride. use a little bit of grease to lube the seal and re-assemble

It sounds harder then what it is, but its quit simple, good luck.

Thanks guys,

So they are all done from inside the diff, nothing to do with the ends of the rearend? Dont have to remove the hubs or anything?

There are no hubs, just axles. just do what they said and you will be fine.

as stated by silverz28camaro:

"push the axles into the haousing and with a small long magnet tool, or pliers get the c-clip and remove the axle. then you will see th seal and be able to remove it with a simple screwdriver, be careful when installing it not to bend it or beat on it after it seats, "
