Default what gears?

ok i just bought a 95bird. the guy said he put an lt1 a4 n it. it was bone stock so i made an intake and descreened the maf. it shifts hard into second so my question is what gears do i have. i want to go 373 but not too sure if that is a good idea. thanx

3.73's are the norm in A4 cars. 4.10's for 6 speeds.

I had 3.73's in my 6spd and loved it. But since your a4 depending on your budget you can find a set of used 3.42s out of a 6spd. Or just go 3.73s
