Default Crazy question

I know this thread will get polluted with questions as to why, and to jump in front of that storm, well I'm deployed to Iraq and afgan alot and when I come home, I want a crazy fun car. Ok, that's the disclaimer, now, 4.30s in an A4 with a built trans and 4000 stall and an f13, anybody have anything close? How about how crazy are 4.30s on stock hieght tires on the highway? I am rebuilding my rear, has 3.90s and I want something to get my blood pumpin again and 4.10s doesn't seem like a big jump! How bad will my top end be? It's really my stupid fun car, that's the key and it's last track time was in sig with stock internals and the cam is new along with gears, input please.

thats too much gear IMO your gonna top out 3rd gear at 115mph on stock size tires and the limiter at 6500, and the car is never gonna hook for ****.

My biggest thing with that gear would be the fact that its not gonna hook at all. Every time you romp it, it will spin the tires and you wont be taking off. Hwy rpms are gonna be pretty high, but not really a big issue since you arent using it to get back and forth to work everyday.

I say go for it! I've never been afraid of some gear though. I have 4.30s in my 6 speed, and 4.88s in my daily driver (lifted Silverado).

With that cam the limiter will be bumped up over stock. I would have it at 6800 personally. With those tires you have, you can hit 120 in 3rd on the limiter, which is faster than your gonna be going at the track with a cam only setup in a basically full weight car. I see where you've trapped 111 before. If you decide to add some more power later, get some diff wheels and mount up some 28s, then you'll be able to hit 132-134 on the limiter depending on tire growth. As far as highway you'll be able to cruise at 70 mph at just under 2800, and 60 at just under 2400.

For people saying it won't hook, c'mon. I have 4.30s with a 6 speed and pull 1.5 60 fts on 17" wheels pulling the tires, or at least one of em lol. If you can't hook a cam only auto with 4.30s, you've got some problems.

we said hes wasn't gonna hook because we assumed he was running street tires, those 18s he has I doubt will cut any 1.5 60' times anyways, lack of sidewall doesn't help.

My car is a 4000 stall 430 gear car and i would never go back. You wont regret it. I top out at roughly 115 in third on stock wheels/tires. I run 28" tires at the track though. Its fun on the street if you dont care about hooking from a dig.... do some roll races lol

LOL... I've got a 96 which started out with 3.43s and I shot up to 4.10s...

Loved it. 70 mph was around 2600 ... I added a Detroit Locker to it and loved that... Then we killed that set up and due to some family things, had to set it aside for a few months; and in the interim ran up on a new Strange S60 from another member I'd been looking at... finally bought that and just got it bolted up this week.

Now that dude came with a spool and 513s... hich is now sitting on 17' with 275 -40s...

It's a crazy setup to be sure...

First gear comes and goes RIGHTNOW! Second and third are LOADED with all kinds of torque and OD comes on quick; but even at low RPMs the car is ready for battle.

It's a lot of fun... but I doubt I could 'recommend it'.

70 hovers around 3600 rpm... and her fuel consumption can be described in a number of ways... none of which would include 'economy'...

She's not a DD by any stretch, but I've been driving it around for a few days and while I LOVE the ridiculous torque and the spool hooks something fierce... it's definitely a fair bit too low for reasonable street use.

When I change the gears I'll probably take it up to a 4.56 - ish...

Started to head to the track the other night, but didn't make it... so I don't know how the feel translates to the clock...

But as far as I can tell... 'low' is GOOD...

Hope that helps... Best of luck...

My Sons in Now Zad... So I just wanted to thank you for your service and wish you the best.

Come home safe,
