Question Anyone ever drop a Truck HD rear in an F-body?

The Moser and Strange rear ends sure are expensive....

Has anyone ever dropped a HD Truck rear into an F-body?
Would it fit? Could it be done?

Maybe I've just been watching too much monster garage.
Any comments are welcome....

First, I assume you mean a 1/2 ton 10 bolt with 8.5" ring. Next step up is a 14 bolt with 10.5 ring gear or 11.5" ring gear. They do make a 14 bolt Semi Float but all the 14's are pretty heavy. I'd stay with the 10 bolt. I'm guessing they might be the right width since the trucks are known to tuck in the rear wheels. The other question is adapting it to your ABS/TCS. I'm sure the new trucks have the ABS stuff but I'm not so sure about TCS. TCS is 4 channel where ABS is 3 channel. TCS fbody axles have sensors at each wheel where ABS 3 channel has the sensor by the pinion yoke. Then you have to fabricate something for the Torque Arm or design your own ladder bars along with spring perches. Not easy to say the leaset.

You can easily build a fbody 9" for under $1500 which would be an easier swap IMO.

The biggest issue IMO is the torque arm. If a mount could be fabbed up we could use any rear out of any late model with TCS and ABS.

You could do it but the cost of narrowing it and fitting it and seting up the suspension and added weight and blah blah blah it'd be cheaper/easier/stronger/better to just go with a 9".

The ford nine was the main stay 1/2 ton truck rearend for 30 + years for ford .Plus it was a fine passenger rearend also. so yes it has been done.
