I have 4.10s with a 98 A4. I'm not sure abot the jump from 3.23s to 4.10s though, as mine wasn't as straightforward as that. The car was a v6 when I got rid of the salad shooters and got some actual rims. The tires I put on were 275/60, and were 28 inches tall. Being a v6 it actually bogged a little from a stand-still, but when I bought the 4.10s (and LSD of course) it was a totally different. When I swapped in the 98 LS1/A4 I switched to 295/50, which are are a decent amount smaller in diameter. At 65mph I'm turning about 2.5k rpm. She takes off pretty quick, but cruising on interstate is killer if you want to go 70mph.
Basically, going to 4.10s from 3.23s is awesome performance wise. You'll def notice a difference when acceleration. But if you're main driving is on the highway, and you have a tire diameter lower than 27 or 26, I'd suggest 3.90s or 3.73s. Unless you don't mind driving slow with everyone passing, or driving fast and turning high rpms. Hope that helped some

4.30 gears are in my brother's '95 Formula that has a Moser 12 bolt. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...tCar.php?car=7
It comes down to how much horsepower the car is producing, the cars weight, tire diameter and what rpm you want to see at the finish line. Bob
