Default S60 Vs 12 bolt

Im about to order a rearend and had it down to a narrowed Strange 12 bolt, 4:56s, Spool..

But is the S60 any better. Iv heard they "eat up" less power like 5% vs the 7 or 8 the 12 bolt takes away. Are they any better behind 6 speeds leaving at 6000 with a bit over 400 horse?

I'm no rear end expert, but if you plan on keeping the car for a long time and you are going to race on the weekend and leaving at 6000rpm`s, I would say go with a S60 or a 9''. If you need a torque arm a Fab 9'' is not a bad way to go. I have a MWC Fab 9'' and I`m making about the same power as you, it is really overkill for me because my car is not a track car but I know it will last. When you look at the cost with the torque arm and everything that you get, it`s not a bad deal. If you keep your car for awhile you will eventually want more power and you will already have the rear to handle it.
Good to see you sold those wheels, that surprised me it took so long because that was a good deal. I wish I would have had the money, but I have to wait until next year to buy a set.

There's an article somewhere on here that compared the s60, a 9", and also a 12 bolt. I think it was a car craft magazine that had it. The way I understood it the s60 was the better option in my opinion...my s60 hasn't served me any problems...I've got 35 spline axles with a posi

if you sell your torque arm you have you can recoup most of the cost difference of the new one. there is no better torque arm out there that compares in weight, strength, and tunnel clearance than the one that is included in the Midwest Chassis 9 inch package. The S60 is a great bolt-in rearend and will be plenty strong, only drawback is weight. the difference in weight will be a wash with the power draw difference between the other rearends. you may see a bit of difference on a chassis dyno, but you will never see the difference on the strip. pm or call us for a quote on both.

I went with the strange 12bolt and have cut a few 1.28 60ft at the track with no issues. The only thing I would have to say bad about the 12 bolt is once you have a few hard launches at the track the rearend will start to whine. I have all the upgraded parts and the girdle for my rearend and the thing still makes noise. lol The good thing about buying the strange was the great customer support and quality. The bolted right up with no troubles at all. I had the old rearend out and the new one in, in about 3 hours. Good luck in your choice.

PM me where you might get the 12 bolt and what kind of deal you might get.
I'm looking for a Strange 12 bolt as well. I'm putting down 415 to the wheels and I may do a few more mods so I think a 12 bolt will suit me nice.

I would go with the S60, they are pretty much bullet proof rear ends from what I've heard and read.

Check out ByunSpeed or ls1speed . They both offer S60 at about the same price. About $2300-2400

Non-Advertised like you have the hook-up or non-advertised like I might be able to get one at the same price?

I'll say this...I have a 408 rwhp LT1 and a few launches at 4K rpm on my Strange 12 bolt- and it is a whine monster...If I had it to do over- I'd have gone 9". I've pulled the cover on my 12'er, and everything looks fine, drive OK, sounds like it is about to fall out the back. Only have about 3,000 miles on it.

go with the S60 strongest rearend out on the market and the pinion anlge is less with a S60 vs a 9in with a M6 the S60 will work awesome . and Ive heard nothing but bad things in M6 cars with 12bolt.
