Default traction and new gears

Im thinking about upgrading to 3.73 or 4.10/4.11. Will I smoke the tires any easier? Are these gears hell on the highway at traveling 65 or so?

i've had both 3.73's and now 4.11's w12bolt. the 3.73's are good and at 80mph i was on 1,900rpm's. the 4.11's are great with the m6 and at 70mph i'm on 1,800rpm's or so. with the 3.73's traction won't get much worse,but the 4.11's will fry the tires. the 4.11's will make the car feel 200lbs lighter. the 3.73's would be my choice if i did'nt have the $$$$ for a 12bolt. good luck to ya.

M6 cars should of came with 4.11's from the factory.They work great for the highway when I cruise at 90mph..
Yes,you will lose traction with them easier at lower speeds.

But you'll be able to launch easier.

And you could run 5.13 gears at 65 mph and not even notice.

That's going to depend on tire size. Assuming that your tires have 25.65 inches diameter (245/50/16's), here is the math -

tire circumference in feet = (25.65 * 3.14)/12 = 6.71 ft

rpm = (mph * final gear ratio * 88) / circumference in feet

rpm = (90 * 4.11 * 88) / 6.71 = 4851 rpm's
You'd be just under 5 grand at 90.
Now don't forget - 3rd gear in a th350 is 1:1, so you just enter in the rear gears as the final gear ratio. In an overdrive tranny, you'd have to know the last gear in the tranny (.73:1 for an example). Then final gear is .73 * rear end gear.
