Default Moser 9" with Detriot Tru-Trac Making Noise?

well after the track today, had some 6k dumps and now the rear "pops"
around right turns? drives fine straight, both wheels spin, no other abnormalitys besides the occasional right turn pop.. anyone else had a similar issue, or did i trash the carrier? it is only a H/C car... hopefully someone chimes in before i tear into this thing tomorrow! thanks

The popping could be your torque arm, so inspect it before going further. The popping sound though is what most people here when a Truetrac is on it's way to self destruction. I wouldn't drive it anymore before you find what it is. Bob

Your story sounds identical to mine! Track once with hoosiers, made 4 passes... then while leaving the track i got the same damn pop around corners. A buddy went through the same thing.. pulled his out and the unit was cracked So i'm guessing ours are the same way. I put around 500 miles on it (after it happened) at the end of last year. Just occasionally get the popping sound. Talked to Bob last year about it and he said to send it in to Moser and they would work with me but i havnt done it yet. I'll be damned if i buy another one. Would be nice if they would sell me a wavetrac at cost Dont really wanna run a spool or locker for going to the track once or twice a year.

A wavetrack is a new design posi style carrier that carries like a 10 year warranty. Thing is, It is VERY expensive, but is supposed to be the next best thing to a spool. I was going to go that route, But I can't afford the extra $ right now. I think it's around $1000.00 if I remember right. So I just decided to go with the Detroit Locker and if it breaks, I'm going to a spool. And at that point, I'll throw a TH 400 in my car and make it a track car! If you call Eric at MWC, He can fill you in on all the details about it. I think that EPP or Moser has something on their website about the wavetrack. I know I saw it somewhere but I can't remember where tho.

Hope you figure it out bro!

my trutrac cluncks and grinds a little turning corners but has done that since day 1. I was told and read that is normal. I have about 10,000 miles on it.

i think you need to switch axles too if you go with anything else other than a trutrac. something about the splines on the axles are only made for the trutrac when you order your rear end with a trutrac..

Same exact thing happened to me last track day of 09'. Made 7 passes, hurt the engine... and the Tru Trac was clicking/popping when I turned right out of the tracks driveway. Tru Trac made it one racing season at ~400 RWHP. BS!

You could go with a spool and keep your 31 spline axles. Bob

Man, as a Tru trac owner in TWO rearends in two drag cars, I have never had problems with them. I always hear of problems, but never experienced them myself. Both of my cars have been cutting 1.5 60's for the past two seasons. Sorry to hear about the bad luck OP
