Default Which rear end rebuild kit to use when putting in 4.10's ???

Guys,
Which Ratech rebuild kit do I need,

basic.. standard.. complete ??? (all have crush sleeve)

Basic has gaskets/pinion shims

standard has gaskets pinion shims/bolts/carrier shims.

complete has pinion bearings/all shims/gaskets.

I was just going to get the basic for $15 bucks and reuse my bearings is that ok... ?

Don't want to drop ANY more money into the 10 bolt than is absolutely needed lol. Buying a 12 bolt... eventually.

What do you guys think? thanks !

Stock rearend? How many miles are on it? Wouldn't hurt to change the bearings while you have it apart. But if it's a low mileage rearend, then you could probably get away witht he basic rebuild kit.

99 Z28,you probably got an auburn differential, but on the slim chance you have a torsen, you're gonna need a 'modified' paddle for use with 4.10s'.

all you have to do is grind the paddle a tad. No big deal. You dont need the $200 SLP paddle.

I agree,I wasn't implying to go and buy the 'expensive' paddle, just some slight modification to get it to work.

It's what presses the axles outward on a Torsen carrier. Similar to the cross pin in a clutch-type or open carrier.

I used the Ratech 3001k, because I wanted to replace all the bearings. If you're tearing into the rear end, you should anyway IMO. The bearings are good quality (Timken, Koyo, and Torrington, all made in USA and Japan).

The only thing about the kit I didn't like is the cover gasket. It's just cheap cork, so I spent an extra $4 on a Fel-Pro one.

Thanks!,
I'll probably just get the $40 kit then. I guess?

How do I know whether I have an auburn or torsen and these paddles?

Was also wondering where there is a swap guide?
