Default e-brake cable help please

How are you supposed to get the cables out of the brackets?? I pushed the tabs in and released the cable, but the spring does not appear to be able to fit through the hole at the end to get the cable out. I need to get these out so I can drop my rear end, this is the last thing I need to do before dropping it out.

I used brute force, got it removed when pulled it out in the spring area and pulled it thru the bracket.

Cripes. it's easy! The spring ends at the end of the cable. You just slide the spring all the way forward through the bracket, pull on it till enough cable is exposed to slide through the slot in the bracket! Took all of 10 seconds once I figured it out. No brute force necessary.
