Default The 4.10

I want to gear my car and call it good enough for my ls1's performance. As it is now I've done, lid, filter, FRA, maft, cat-back exhaust, and i want to do a 4.10. What all do i need to get that to work. Is it simply replacing a ring and pinion set? Where is the best place to go for gears and the propper stuff? Does anybody have any other ideas for cheap and easy to install performance?

If you have a 6 speed, I would recommend a set of 4.10 gears. I thought they were one of the best mods I did to my old M6 car. If you have an auto, you might look into an aftermarket torque converter instead of a gear swap.

btw...I bought an install kit for setting up the rear When I did my gear swap on my old car. I got the stuff to do it from thunder racing.

It came with gears, rearend cover, gasket, gear oil, marking compound, bearings, pinion shims, crush sleeve, pinion nut, stud kit, ring gear bolts. I think that's all if my memory serves me.

The calibrater does nothing but correct the electrical signal for the electronic tachs in these cars, if you don't plan on getting LS-1 edit or another programmer you need something to adjust your speedo or it will read high.

Thunder Racing has a good gear swap kit, comes with everything you need... and IMO, it's worth it to spend the extra bucks for the Strange gears in their kit.

I'd go to their website and email or call them to talk about your individual setup...
