Default Just got quoted $850 for a used 10 bolt

I've seen enough 10 bolts get sold for 200 and 300 to know that this price is a little crazy, but I dont know where to look for one. It's probably the fact that scrap yards think they have the market cornered and can get what they want for one and not what they are really worth.

Either that or the shop that found it is trying to hit me on the head for a huge profit.

What do you guys think, and if you know of any used 10 bolts in good condition around Eastern NC or Southern Va let me know.

The avreage going rate is 150 to 400. Most fall in the 250-300 range. IF the rear can be verified less then 5k miles and say it was behind a auto trans. I would not object to lets say 500$ BUT if its from a scrap yard with no hist. Then you roll that dice.

Thats pretty much what I was thinking, that his price was somewhat insane. He seems like a nice guy but I think I may have to go retrieve the car find my own rear and do a home job.

and 02Sleeper you have a PM

I'd say 200-300 at the most. Actually he'd have to pay me to haul the POS off his property.

Don't mind me, I'm just a bitter old man haha.

I would think the value of the 10 bolt would depend is it stock or built. I am going to install a 9" in the next week or two after which I may sell my 10 bolt or may just sit on it , I do not think I would take 8 for it

now lets see if I can add it all up
my A4/stalled/10 bolt

ta cover/stud kit (140.00)
Detroit locker (525.00)
3.73 (200.00)
mos axles (250.00)
welded tubes (nc)
mt drag radials (300.00)
air bags (50.00)
adjust ta on body mount(250.00)
relocate brackets (nc)
adjust lca (200.00)
adj phb (100.00)
all labor (nc)
all added a nickel and a dime at a time

heck of a lot of money in a 10 bolt

I do not want to add it up/all this in a 10 bolt running mid 11'

Yep , I called around when I wanted a stock 10 bolt rear . Local "recycling " yards wanted between $700 - 1000 bucks for them . I ended up just putting gears in mine for $250 .

Your 10 bolt may be worth a bit more than a stocker, but I doubt (and I could be wrong) that anyone is going to spend any more than $400 on a used 10 bolt... aftermarket goodies or not. So all in all your 10 bolt really isn't worth that much. At least it's staying together though. Maybe you are one of the lucky ones that can just keep beating on it without worry.

Based on your numbers, an aftermarket cover + locker + gears + axles = $1115... which to me, if you're going to spend that much on the stock 10 bolt... why not spend a couple hundred more and get a used 12 bolt or 9 inch? *scratching head*

As for the OP... smart man to avoid that scam, lol. $850 for a junk yard rear? That's just nuts. Good luck on your hunt for a replacement.

I do not think I can get 8 for it, that is why I will set on it, if I should ever need to sell the SS ( have no plans for this) reinstall the 10 bolt and sell the 9"

" *scratching head* " were able to spend a little at a time rather than a lot at one time, hoping for the best
